Our Story

Formed in October 2015 and based in Torrington, CT, Unisoft Medical Corporation (UMC) is a medical device design and manufacturing company, spun-off from Trlby Innovative, LLC.

Led by Bob and Stacey Mileti, Trlby has pioneered and perfected the art and science of heat sealing. Trlby’s development of proprietary heat sealing technology began in the early 1980s when Bob designed and patented one of the first stunt kites and the equipment to manufacture it.

Trlby sold hundreds of thousands of Trlby Stunt Kites, all manufactured in Connecticut, through a network of retailers before diversifying in the early 2000s. 

When demand for Trlby’s expertise in product development and heat sealing outpaced demand for kites, Trlby began designing custom heat sealing equipment for Fortune 500 companies.

Even with Trlby’s success working for customers including Becton-Dickinson, Georgia-Pacific, Millipore, Nestle, and Smith’s Medical, the Trlby team missed the satisfaction of designing, manufacturing, and selling their own product line. They remained watchful for an opportunity where Trlby’s manufacturing technology and product development skills could make a positive difference in people’s lives.

One product category caught and held their attention: healthcare mattresses.

Patients are diagnosed by advanced imaging, operated on by robots, treated with bio-pharmaceuticals, and then sent to recover on mattresses made to yesterday's standards.

It struck the team that the one product that’s closest to the patient in nearly every healthcare setting is the same one that’s changed the least over the years, despite rising rates of pressure ulcer injuries and healthcare-associated infections.

This realization lead to a multi-year endeavor to design the highest quality healthcare mattress that could protect patients from infection and pressure injury. The Unisoft One© is the result of these efforts.
